InspectDeck (Android) — Privacy Policy

Short version

• Everything you create (inspections, findings, photos, company profile) stays on your device. Inspection content is never uploaded to our servers.
• One free InspectDeck account (email + emailed code, no password) carries your subscription across up to 2 devices. We store only your identity, subscription status, and authorized installations — never your inspection content. Session tokens live encrypted on-device (Android Keystore).
• The app uses internet only for sign-in and subscription checks with our backend (which verifies purchases server-side with Google Play). It cannot send your inspection data anywhere on its own.
• Your data leaves the device only when you choose to share it (e.g. share an .inspecx file or a PDF report through the Android share sheet or email).
• Subscriptions are processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment details.

Data stored on your device

• Inspection content: projects, sections, rooms, findings, statuses, priorities.
• Photos you capture or import (stored in original, optimized, and thumbnail sizes), including any markup annotations you add.
• Company profile and report preferences (name, contact details, logo, disclaimer text) that you enter in Settings.
• Trial state (first-launch timestamp) and subscription cache (whether Pro is unlocked).
• Account session (encrypted): sign-in tokens, this installation's ID, and the cached subscription entitlement.

This data is kept in the app’s private storage (Room database, DataStore, app files) and, if you have Android Auto Backup enabled, may be included in your own Google backup. It is never transmitted to us.

Permissions used and why

• Camera — to take inspection photos, only when you tap the camera action.
• Photos / media access (Android 13+ photo picker; READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on Android 12 and below) — to import existing photos you select.
• Google Play Billing (com.android.vending.BILLING) — to check subscription status and launch the Google Play purchase sheet.
• Internet — used only to sign in and to verify your subscription with our backend (which re-checks with Google Play server-side). No inspection content is ever transmitted.

Purchases

InspectDeck Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through Google Play (product inspectdeck.subscription, monthly or annual base plan; one subscription covers 2 devices total across Windows, Android and iPhone/iPad). Prices, billing periods, free-trial eligibility, renewal, and cancellation are handled by Google Play under Google’s terms. Consult Google’s privacy policy for how Google processes purchase information. We do not receive your credit-card or payment details.

Sharing (your choice)

Export and sharing are Pro features and always require your explicit action: sharing an .inspecx package to the desktop app, exporting a PDF report, or sending files via email, messaging, Drive, or other apps you pick. Once you send files to someone else or a third-party app, their handling of that data is covered by their policies, not this one.

Children

The app is a professional work tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data retention and deletion

Because your inspection data lives only on your device (and in your own backups / files you shared), deleting it is in your control: delete individual projects, photos, or findings inside the app, clear app data, or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes the app’s on-device data including the encrypted session. Your account record (email, subscription, device list — no inspection content) is held to operate cross-device licensing; to delete it, email support@inspectdeckpro.com (cancelling alone keeps the record for legitimate business records).

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL and the effective date revised. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s store listing.
